16th ZX81 users meeting in Germany, march 2012
Re: 16th ZX81 users meeting in Germany, march 2012
Just bring it with you.
There are several cracks bringing their equipment like oscilloscope and logic analyzer.
There will also for shure be the parts needed to build a complete ZX81 there. So chances are high to get it running.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

When talking about ZX81, please forget NTSC or PAL or SECAM.yerzmyey wrote: I have only one TV-set with NTSC
These are Color-modes and ZX81 uses b/w* only.
For ZX81 or TS1000 you need a "goold old" tv with manual tuning.
UHF Channel 36 for ZX81, and VHF channel 2 or 3 for TS1000.

It is correct that PAL supports transportation of colored pictures but also b/w pictures.Zschopower wrote: When talking about ZX81, please forget NTSC or PAL or SECAM.

It is a video standard and backwards compatible to b/w TV.
And today it would be hard to find TV's not supporting color.
So nearly all TV's are PAL and/or NTSC.
In fact nearly all TV models in the last 10 years sold in Europe are multi norm compatible and support both signals, either in PAL or NTSC standard.

Well, actually it is possible to get new (or almost new) black/white TV-set - a touristic/camping one.
They're usually produced in China (wherever else) and they're very small.
5,5" mostly.
.
Really good stuff for ZX81.

I am so busy with too many things last weeks that the ZX81 is on a low scheme right now.
I am simply too tired to take the trip to Fulda so I have to pass! Still 3 games in 1K Hires not solved in perfect view!
