Re: New release of EightyOne available
My thoughts are that we have two topics instead of having everything in this single topic.
Announcements on new releases / updates / big fixes / new features will go in one topic.
Everything else including discussions, suggestions, proposed improvements, problem reports, questions, help requests etc. goes in the other topic.
In the first post of each topic, I can put a link to the other topic, along with an explanation of what we expect in each topic.
Both topics will stay in the Emulators section.
Would that be okay?

Re: New release of EightyOne available
Sounds OK to me as it's all under one roof and not far to walk as they say, so yes an excellent suggestion but as I say I will go with what the majority deem meet.
I just found it a bit rich that Paul would make the suggestion he did after contributing to a six page "discussion" re the Pi Pico emulator which is no different to what is being discussed here re Eighty One. Anyhow sorry if I come across as mardy but my sinus's are inflamed at the moment (damn c-pap machine) and I've even kicked the cat!
Also, just a thought, when announcing new updates releases etc why not have the author post them as a downloadable text file for those interested in reading them instead of taking up two thirds of the page with bug fixes ( ZEsarUX 12 being one example)
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5411
which when invariably re quoted take up nearly all the thread and must be a pain to read for mobile phone users.

That was my thought as well.1024MAK wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 3:15 pm My thoughts are that we have two topics instead of having everything in this single topic.

I guess we can keep this thread as it is including the announcement of new versions and an additional thread in the announcement that links to the correct topic of this thread .
The new thread can't be commented.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Does anyone else have a view on the subject before anything is set in stone? It would be nice to hear a few more opinions on the matter.

Re: New release of EightyOne available
Sure, I'll give my 2 pence.
I love the discussion and dialog that happens in threads like these. I learn much more about the emulator, how people are using it, and things I didn't know I could do with it than without this venue. So, let's keep threads like this.
However, it gets difficult to see when there are actual new versions and announcements by the emulator caretakers when there is so much other chatter to get through. I agree with Paul that an announcement-only thread is the way to do that.
So, I'll have my cake and eat it, too.
And, as soon as I submitted my post, I see that the deed has already been done. Thanks, Paul!

And this thread stays as it is

Re: New release of EightyOne available
Yesterday I found a bug of some sort in the lambda 8300 emulation where saving and loading to tape was impossible. Another user pointed out that they could save and load using WAV. Tape as i mentioned is not possible (I can save to .sna but that's not good for submitting entries). I tried TZX, .P, .O etc. No luck. Will this new release include a fix or will we need to wait? thanks

In Heck, there are two options for perpetual torment:
Eat the Puckerberry and suffer for eternity:
drink nothing but a cocktail of The Last Dab and Mexican Cake blended and served with
habanero slices

Re: New release of EightyOne available
Did you try using the newer version of the ROM that is available (called lambda8300colour.rom)? That should work with save/load unless you need to have your program run with the older version of ROM.
Also, I expect there will be a new EO release pretty soon.
