@moggy, how odd. :?

i have just done a little more testing, with a simple 3 note single pattern, 1 note on each channel, a (my left) then b (my right) and then c (both).

when channel a is playing i get full volume on the left, and can just about hear it on the right (fed back via mixing resistors)
when channel b is playing i get the oposite of above.
when channel c is playing i get the same at both side.

i have AY-3-8912a chip here, is it the same chip in the Zon-x ?

Andy

I think i must have missed the page you talk about in the PDF, i only saw each diagram with all 3 outputs tied together. my output is based on this http://hw.speccy.cz/pics/ay-interface.png but with different resistor values.

Hi Andy

Yes same chip, what I did from that PDF is use say pin A or B or C with a 1k resistor to earth and a 10 k resistor and 100 uf cap for output using one pin instead of all three , and using one isolated channel on its own should produce only that channels output, but in My Zonx case all three channels output are appearing equally on the one pin. all pins are away from the socket and only one connected at a time to prevent accidental cross connection.

Weird

Here is the inner world of the ZONX-81 box (iss. 4):

All 3 sound-outputs (pin 1, 4, 5) are tied together, resulting in a "hard" mix of all 3 channels :(
I think, I have to warm up my soldering iron to add a real stereo output ...

Hi Siggi

My chip is socketed so I bent all three pins out of socket and connecting them individually A then B then C I still end up with all three channels information on any one pin.
Please don't destroy Your Zonx just for this query it is obvious I have got something very wrong

Hi Andy
I made a small user interface to handle the REM 0 Line player more easy (see attached file).

Some questions: where can I find PT3 or STC files in the web? I am not familiar with WOS or Speccy archives ...
Is is right, that this player supports also STC-files?

Siggi

PS: LOAD of sound files using ZXPAND is untested (tested only with MEFISDOS)

Hi Siggi

1000's files here
http://zxtunes.com/authors_list.php?&ln=eng

Not all pt3 or STC, but worth sorting out, and they have to be renamed for the shock player IE shock1.pt3 ...2...3..ETC. I use a program called Ant renamer.

http://www.antp.be/software/

Here is work by a composer who goes by the name of S.A.V, that I took the trouble of sorting for You to give You an Idea of the great stuff out there.

I include His original archive for the titles.

load up the p file "JUKE" in the S.A.V folder run it and it will play about a minute of each file alter the basic to suite Your own timings.

As all the work is freely available to download from the Zxtune site I have assumed it would be ok to re-list here, should there be any objection I will happily ask Rich to remove this post.

Hi Siggi,

Aswell as the page Moggy has supplied there is an archive of tracker format music here http://bulba.untergrund.net/music_e.htm.

PT3 player only plays PT3 files. the STC player was left behind becasuse i was after software to create new files and it seems that none was available on windows to create new STC files. However current STC files can be converted to PT3 with Vortex II tracker software http://bulba.untergrund.net/vortex_e.htm

I do have a project in mind, but it will not be a weeks of work but will be many months i imagine, i intend to attempt to create STC format tracker that will run on ZX81, it is still in the early planning stages, but have started another thread on these forums and will update it as and when i have any news.

I also downloaded you program, but have yet to play with it, Thank you, saves me a job :D

Regards Andy

EDIT: took a look at the program, nice work Siggi, i especially like the conditional print line 100 :D i see you incorparated the test too see when the end/loop point has been reached ;)

Hi Moggy,
yes, a lot of music is there. But is it possible to find a song by its real title (most of them have short names or numbers as names)? If I want to find e. g.
"The Doors: Riders on the storm" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKbPUzhWeeI
(of course only instrumental): is there somewhere some kind of "directory"/"data base", where I can look, whether that song exists as .PT3 and where I can find it?
