Re: Artic ZX Galaxians - now with ZONX support (and Chroma81 & UDG)
Looking at the advertisement for the memory chip it supports HGR8 not WRX Hi-Res.

Re: Artic ZX Galaxians - now with ZONX support (and Chroma81 & UDG)
Not that I have ever heard of HRG8 before.
The standard text-mode should work, however the Chroma/UDG version needs at least UDG.
So are you using the standard text-mode version or the Chroma/UDG version?Its1982again wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 4:43 pm That's them although I bought the machine with this installed, along with the vla81 chip upgrade.
Anyone know if this is why the Spave Invaders won't run on my machine? Been an interestin thread this, and thanks to everyone for their input.

Me neither, G007, Memeotech and WRX I have heard of but not HGR8.
Just tried Space invaders via emulation and it only works with WRX.
G007 and Memotech causes a whiteout which leads me to think that the RAM upgrades HGR8 compatibility (whatever it is) is your problem.

As I typed Vla81 I actually rememberd it is programmable. I was able to switch it from 16k - 48k and enable 8k -40k.
Working perfectly aoing withx sound. I've isncluded an image of the mod done while I had the machine opened.

It looks like the 32k byte RAM upgrade is having the ‘extra 16k’ controlled by the vLA81 board. See here for more details.

It is...well was. Simple switch over and it uses 8k to 40k so everythjng loads and runs as it should.

Re: Artic ZX Galaxians - now with ZONX support (and Chroma81 & UDG)
I simply switched to Vla81 to use 8k to 40k memory rather than 16k to 48k as in the instructions for the chip as it was mentioned the the game ran on that memory set up.BarryN wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 6:31 pmThe pic is a little blurry and could you describe what you did more?Its1982again wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 5:48 pmSolved!!!
