Looks good.. can it work with UDG or this kind of software like the HR Galaxians? or it needs software specifically designated for its eprom patterns? And is the eprom firmware avaliable?mrtinb wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 12:21 pmHowever building this circuit should give you UDG: http://web.archive.org/web/202102231357 ... CHR$X4.htm

Ops.. I know the developer, he may be interested on that. As you can see it runs well on ZXpand+Its1982again wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 11:24 ambola_dor wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 1:18 am May be the same
I only knows another graphically similar. But this is 100% accurate with the original, has 1 pixel scrolling and supports Chroma as well. A but slower. There's the spectrum version too..

I gave up on trying these downloads a while back as non of them worked for me, as in I always ended up with the full screen of pixelated pattern on loading, whichever version I tried. I'm using a real machine with internal 32k which runs all the other WRX stuff. And thanks to some of the game suggestions on here also now has sound!
Just tried the lateset version with my new(old) Zon x-81 and exactly the same.......Any suggestions welcome.
I know some SRAM has timing issues with HRG that may be solved using a capacitor perhaps needs a fine tuning there.

Re: Artic ZX Galaxians - now with ZONX support (and Chroma81 & UDG)
There is no firmware needed for this, as the EEPROM just contain the fonts you desire. 7 fonts with 128 chars, or 14 fonts with 64 chars.
Maybe the 27C24 8k EEPROM can be replaced with 8k RAM or 8k FRAM. I think the electronic guys in the forum might know the answer here.
Re: Artic ZX Galaxians - now with ZONX support (and Chroma81 & UDG)
you must use version with partial chroma, version with full chroma won't run for you.Its1982again wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 11:24 amI gave up on trying these downloads a while back as non of them worked for me, as in I always ended up with the full screen of pixelated pattern on loading, whichever version I tried. Does the fact I'm on 32k make a difference? Just tried the partial Chroma and no joy.jjp wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 2:51 pmyou must use version with partial chroma, version with full chroma won't run for you.Its1982again wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 11:24 amI gave up on trying these downloads a while back as non of them worked for me, as in I always ended up with the full screen of pixelated pattern on loading, whichever version I tried. Just to be clear, this should run on a standard ZX81, with a geniune (and working) Zon x-81 box?
I have the Speccy versions for both 48k and 128k, both fantastic. Just need to sort the zx81 version now.
I do have other zx81s which are standard so may try one of those rather than the 32k one.

The game requires 32Kb of RAM WRX capable, but if I'm not mistaken, the RAM should be mapped between 8~40Kb. ZXpand meets this requirement.Its1982again wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 6:49 pm Does the fact I'm on 32k make a difference? Just tried the partial Chroma and no joy.

And no, the game doesn't run on the standard ZX81.

Maybe your ZX81 has mapped 32k at address 16k-48k.
Re: Artic ZX Galaxians - now with ZONX support (and Chroma81 & UDG)
Hi Ernesto!
I don't have a ZXpand+ (only the classic), so I ran ZXGLX.P on my TK85 equipped with AY-3-8912 chip and it worked perfectly, with all sounds playing correctly.
It would be interesting if someone else tests it with another ZXpand+.
