ZX81 Letters
ZX81 Letters
Has anyone repainted the ZX81 raised letters and the ZX81 16K RAM raised letters before? I have tried but I keep getting ink on the sides and it originally was only on the top of the letters.

Re: ZX81 Letters
You can use an oil based marker with a fine tip. I used this method on raised letters on Zeddy's case when I did a refub last time. Red is not as deep as the Sinclair one but looks good.

I've tried all these enamels with various brushes ... it was a waste of time and money. Yes, indeed, you can match nearly every colour what you can think of but final results are not as good as you expect. Using the oil based marker makes your works easy and stress free with painting just the top of raised letters.

A brush is the wrong tool if using paint...McKlaud wrote: ↑Mon Mar 19, 2018 11:27 pm I've tried all these enamels with various brushes ... it was a waste of time and money. Not that I have tried with a Zeddy, but a firm sponge (don't want very much give or flexing) with a light coating of paint may do a better job. Mask off as much as you can of the surrounding plastic. Don't try to get a full covering in one go, but build it up as many layers over a number of days. Oh, and you may want to try with the sponge on a suitable surface, and very gently apply the case to the sponge, not the other way round...

Just let it do your wife with red nail polish.

Pokémon is right. They are always painting everything. Eyes, cheeks, lips, nails. They do great fine detail work.
