I have two of the cards and two of the 3 way extension things. So they need to go togethor.

If we're talking about the same thing Charlie the You may be a wee bit in error.
The speech card is known as the Maplin "Talk Back" of which I do have but one.
A bit unusual insofar as it uses different numbers to the standard allophone set whilst using the said standard allophone set.

There are 2 boards, one of which is the talk-back of which you speak. The other is most definitely not - it has a completely different chipset, including a TI-SN sound chip.

I also have the Maplin extension board. That's what my GA90X plugs into (it having a "male card edge" rather than it's own female socket).
Maybe a picture will demonstrate what I mean more clearly...

Torsten made a new backplane similar to the Maplin board. But it has one big advantage: it has an intergrated place for a tea or coffee pot:
