@Andy

The high pitch bit was just experimenting with sound for the sake of it as the tutorials demo doesn't follow the real tune anyway and no need to alter channel a as there is no loop in song it's a "one shot " deal as it were, play it in Sergays player and it starts then stops no loop req , as I say it is just a getting to grips with the tracker piece.

As for original stuff I'm still figuring out whats what

Anyway thanks Andy for time spent on this it's been worth it, for Me at least, I hope other people are getting the same kick out of Your tracker as I am. :D

right there is a quick fix for this bug.....

load up ZXBETA.P

press SHIFT Q and then Y to quit the program

then do POKE 21263,195 newline
then POKE 18014,1 newline

DELETE "ZXBETA.P" newline OR you can change the name in line 998 to something else before the next step.

RUN 998 this will save it with the fix in place.

> Hi Yerz,
Welcome back, have not seen you post for a while
---------------------
Thx dude, actually I was convinced the Forum is dead for months because I couldn't get here.
Still it was curious to me that from time to time I get messages "new post has came".
First I figured out people write them occasionally when the forum is up and running and then, due to some technical troubles it's dead again.
Finally I found that I can write from the work easily, so now I knew there are some problems with safety scripts (which was true) and thanx to RWAP seems like I can use it again. :)

> but in anycase the compiled STC files will work just fine in the basic player.
Regards Andy
---------------------
STC files are being done like this:
Save song from SoundTracker.
Load it into the Compiler.
Press COMPILE.
SAVE the song.
You have the name.tap

Now on PC's AY-EMUL:
Drag & drop the name.tap into AY-EMUL.
It will start playing the song automatically.
To save: press "PL" button (playlist)
You can see the song there.
Click it with RIGHT mouse button.
Click SAVE AS and write *.STC extension.

Here it is now. Should work. As You all say - also on ZX81.

Ah, beware - zxtunes.com have songs from cracking. Therefore sometimes they're broken.

Ooooo, thanx a lot, I will test it at home.
By the way - how big the songs are on ZX81? Still 4-6Kb?

Hi yerz,

Raw song data (i just save the job lot) are 20865 bytes long (i think spectrum saves the song data block with 2 extra bytes on tape version anyway).

Compiled STC, should give the same size file as the Spectrum Compiler if fed the same song data.

Regards Andy.

P.s if you try this out you'll have to apply a small fix to the lastest beta, viewtopic.php?t=556#p7040

i dropped a boo boo and forgot to chnage a CALL to a JP

OK, finally I was able to listen to it, at home (although the song finally appeared not mine but I know it well :) ).

So - that's why I wanted to check it out from real machine.

Although 90% plays correctly, and also tunning is close to perfect, there are audiable errors.

Now - the question is, are they in ZX81 version (due to conversion or engine/player) or due to zxtune.com song.

Name of the file "MT06" indicates the file came from zxtunes.com. They hack the songs from programs, and very often the songs are simply broken "in the process". That's our hope.

So that's what we have to do:
here are my own SCT file, done in a proper way, and I know them (too well ;-) ).
http://yerzmyey.republika.pl/yerz_stc.zip

- yerzmyey_-_fifth_channel_AY.stc (for AY chip)
- Yerzmyey-Alex_Tears_YM.stc (for YM chip).

Of course both trax will work on both chips, but they're prepared to sound the best on proper chips.

If You guyz would be so kind and convert them into ZX81 and the record into MP3 and upload them somewhere for me, to check out for any (ominous :) ) errors.
