Thats an interesting thought, but i don't see where i can squeeze in the extra information needed and remain Soundtracker 1.1 compliant.... you did know that your STC files will play on any regular STC player :D

if you have a spare sample you could create 2 with simialr shapes but one of them with the overall volume envelope lower.

Andy

as an afterthought, maybe a seperate version that is NOT Soundtracker 1.1 compliant could address this. along with what i consider to be an incorrectly implemented sample repeat, in my eyes it should only play to the end of the repeat then loop, not play to the end and then start repeating...

P.S if you prefered the N/P Newline i can put it back in, only needs a few labels swapping round

Sorry Andy I was forgetting the compliance thing  it has to be true to the original and Your sample altering idea sounds intriguing ;)

Forget about altering the text I get the drift of it now :?

what's amazing Me is how smooth everything is screen updates song play etc As much as I love the zeddie I honestly thought everything would have to be in fast mode for it to keep up

I'm now gonna have a go at programming the example in the soundtracker instructions You posted and see what that sounds like.

This is a ten pint evening :!:

@Andy
Hope You don't mind I have modded Your player a bit with some crude basic so the 1500 or so song files included can be stepped through one at a time rather than loading each one by hand.
Like I say a bit crude but it works.
Use as per original zxplay and use "N" to step.

Regards.

Course i don't mind the player is just a skeleton program so that you can see how it works, as long as you don't mess up the m/c in the rem line, you can pretty much do anything you like in the basic.

Would any one be interested in the source code for the player ?

Regards Andy

P.s i'm also considering writting a Decompiler so that we can turn the STC back into SNG and load them up in the tracker... Wadda ya think ?

If you're so inclined then why not :) It would prove to be a useful test tool for the compiler too..!

The compiler, i believe gives the same result as the spectrum compiler, i have used VbinDiff to compare the outputs of both given the same song data :D

i was more thinking it could be useful to look at the samples/ornaments/effect parameters of a song that you think has a particularly nice sounding then you could save them individually and use then in your own compositions.

A decompiler would be very useful Andy, I was using Vortex to save the samples out of songs to build up a library of instruments but this is only of use with vortex.
It would be great to be able to do this in a form compatible with the "ANDY-TRAK " (Sorry just had to name it.)
