After I opened the zippered folder and went deeper into the folder, I noticed that one Hot-ZII 16K file was corrupted. I see what I can do about that corrupted file. I believe that I have one on my cassette. I can try to upload clean one here if I can.

I've looked through the users here in the forum and can't find anyone else from Indiana, USA, that could help you make a copy.

Sorry for the slight delay. However, I bought a Radio Shack's TRS80 CCR-81(Computer Cassette Recorder) off the eBay website not a long time ago to replace my broken one. I am proud of the machine!

Also, I believe that I have a manual for the certian program.

Many files are now on Internet Archive, including:
* HOT-Z, HOT-Z II, and HI-Z user manuals

The PDFs look OK and include photos

HOT-Z II "64K" version works in EightyOne with this configuration:
* check 48K
* check "RAM in 8K Region"
* check "M1Not Circuit"
By the way, the P file in this topic ("Hot-Z II 64K.p") is exactly the same as the Archive's "Hot_Z_v2.32_Memotech_1983_Sinware.p" and as mrtinb noted it may not be the original program


Anyways, it seems HI-Z is the way to go, as we can all afford 48K of RAM nowadays

Here is the advantage of HI-Z (from the user manual)

HI-Z is completely relocated into the 8000-BFFF block of memory (32-48K). The beauty of this is that Hot Z becomes totally "programmer transparent,’ leaving the entire "user RAM" space from 4000-7FFF free for your applications. You can therefore quit Hot Z, load, run, and/or test your own programs, and jump right back into Hot Z to make changes or write new code, LEAVING YOUR PROGRAM COMPLETELY INTACT.

It works with the 48K+8K+M1NOT options in EightyOne. The splash screen says "Hot Z" version 2.32, but you can NEW ... and afterward RAND USR 38912 still works. Press SHIFT-Q to exit back to BASIC

Did these ever get dumped? That is quite a collection of ROMs


I'm guessing they are for the Timex/Sinclair 2068 (ZX Spectrum variation) version of Hot Z: HOT Z 2068


In the photo I see two different ROM/EPROM boards

• Oliger User Cartridge Rev. A

• ZEBRA SYSTEMS, INC 1985

I've heard the Spectrum can accept a ZX81 edge connector, so perhaps Oliger re-used their ZX81 board for the 2068? It uses an LS138 chip just like the Oliger 2764 based "cartridge" board design

that MSCRIPT ROM -- is it MSCRIPT word processor by Micro Systems Software & Zebra Systems for the 2068? which would go with the ZROM 64 column ROM for the 2068

Revised Exrom may be the Extension ROM (EXROM) for the 2068

ZROM on the Zebra board may be OS 64 Cartridge by Zebra Systems for the 2068

Depends...

For I/O devices (not including keyboards) that don't contain any ROM or RAM, if they have a ZX81/TS1000 sized edge-connector socket, most will work on a ZX Spectrum.

But anything that needs any of the upper eight address lines (any memory) is incompatible due to these signals being in different places on the ZX Spectrum edge-connector.

The TS2068 however has a edge-connector that is an extension of the ZX81/TS1000 edge-connector and hence different to the ZX Spectrum edge-connector.

The later 128K ZX Spectrum models also have further differences in their edge-connectors.

The ZX Spectrum (apart from the 16K model) also can only have external memory in the 0 to 16K (the ROM) area, as there is no control signal to page out any of the internal RAM.

My EPROM burner was designed to connect and work on both the Zeddy and the Speccy including the 2A in 48 mode so yes some do with the ZX printer being the obvious example.

I suspect your EPROM programmer is likely using Z80 I/O ports rather than putting the EPROM directly in the memory map address space of the Z80.
