z88dk Tutorial in English

Post by swensont »

I've seen the z88dk tutorial posted on the German ZX81 forum. I've tried reading it, but it's been 30 years since my high school German. There was some suggestions in this board about using Google Translate, which was a good idea. I took each of the parts of the tutorial, ran them through Google Translate and then added them to a document. Once all the parts were done, I went through the document, added images as necessary and did some formatting clean up of the document. I have not tried to go through the document and clean up the English. That might take a lot of work.

Attached is the OpenOffice/LibreOffice .odt document file (for those that want to edit even further) and a PDF file (for those that may not have OO/LO).

The tutorial has a bug already in the first example.
Include has to be written in lower case letters.

I know is an old post , but just to enphasize, me as a newbee suffered from what I think are scaning mistakes or may be included bya google translate..
the # Include ( with the caps I ) will make the compiler to show lots of error messages prior to abort,, most of "/n" scape codes have an extra space that will ruin the code to, so double check the printf(... when copyng codes..
else this manual is of great help!!

A better approach would be to have the original German and the Google Translate version in windows next to each other. Use the explanation from English and code from German.

thank you @martinb , now I´m reading from here https://forum.tlienhard.com/phpBB3/view ... hp?f=8&f=8
and leting Chrome to translate (I think it doesn´t translate codes) but still stuck with the compiler error messages, I am posting in the z88dk forum and I don´t want to double post https://www.z88dk.org/forum/viewtopic.p ... 298#p18298 but any help will be welcome.
thank you
