8K BASIC ROM for ZX80

Post by albertusj »

Hi, I'm looking for someone willing to provide me with an 8K BASIC ROM for my ZX80. It doesn't matter if I need to adapt a ROM to be compatible. It's just that I don't have access to a burner.

I can pay via PayPal.

Any ZX81 ROM chip should work in a ZX80. As the 8K ROM is just a ZX81 ROM.

I sell the EL-2364 Flash ROM on sellmyretro.com - and can get SirMorris to program it for you - if you clarify exactly which ROM version you need!

Add £5 to program it

If needed, I can “burn” the 2764 / 27128 / 27256 EPROMs. But these are not directly pin compatible with the Sinclair ROM chip (socket). Either the ZX80 board needs modification (not recommended) or you need to build and use an adapter board (details were posted somewhere in this forum some time back).

Hence why I was making sure what you wanted. I’d be surprised if there aren’t any spare ZX81 ROM chips around.
I don’t have time now, but if you like, I can list the details of people who repair 1980s computers. One of them may have a spare you could buy.
