What is this interface?

Post by RWAP »

Amongst my ZX81 goodies which I have been sorting through, I have come across an unidentified interface.

See http://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/details/2281

Any suggestions as to what it may be?

Well it has a 8192 word x 8 bit Eprom on it (the HN482764-4 http://www-uxsup.csx.cam.ac.uk/~bjh21/B ... 2764.pdf)- It doesnt look like there are any connectors on it - could it be a replacement rom?

Coould it be so you could use a different length cable and put this board inside of a display case where it isnt visible, that way, if it is a demo program, you could have the computer running the demo and the only thing showing is the cable?

I won the auction for this and have now received and tested it, and it actually works!!!! It seems to automatically load a BASIC with machine code program in ,but doesn't auto run, you have to do this yourself! The program just demonstrates the TS1000 and what it can do!( doesn't work on a UK ZX81 on its own, as it needs the TS's 2K RAM (at least) to work - works ok a zx81 with 16k Memotech pack! ) Looking at the programs listing there are USR calls to the 8192 to 16384 area, so maybe it patches something in there as well..??? If anyone is interested I could try and work out the circuit and post it here with a ROM dump (when my programmer is sorted out - broken driver disk) Seems strange how the loaded program is 'fixed' and unalterable but the display file isn't - functions normally - or appears to..?? Will have to try it again and see if you can define/alter variables...!!??
