Hi,
I am going to build a ZX80 replica and I want it to be as accurate and authentic looking as possible so I will probably use Grant Searle's excellent PCB foils to create the PCB.
I am currently looking for the best / most accurate ZX80 case reproduction since I want to 3D print the case myself and then finish it (sanding, painting etc to make it look perfect).
While searching for a suitable case I found this:
https://www.printables.com/model/490727 ... plica-case
It looks really nice but "Spinnetti", the creator of the case mentioned in the comments that since posting this model he has made a new, even more accurate version of the case than the one posted on printables.com. Does anyone know if this new/better version is available for download somewhere?
Obviously you would like to use the best possible version of the case when you put a lot of work into making your own ZX80
Thanks!

But it seems like I can't send a PM to "Spinnetti". Is it because I have not been a member of this forum long enough?

Hi, Spinnetti is actually my last name.
I have made some little corrections to the design once I got a real one to measure closely, but its minor stuff so I wouldn't let that stop you from using the existing one. You can get a full sticker set off ebay that looks pretty good too. There's a guy selling cases which I'm pretty sure are my files without my consent so I don't plan to upload my final design at this point but will put it out there eventually. That said, the one I posted up is more accurate than any other one I'm aware of.
Dave.

Hi Spinnetti,
Thanks for your reply. Too bad you don’t plan on releasing the more accurate case files yet.
I am not in a hurry to complete my build, but I guess it would be nice for the Sinclair retro community to have an accurate case replica for people like me who want to build a new ZX80 or for owners of the original ZX80 who want to replace an old worn or broken case for their machine.
What exactly are the differences between the one you already posted and the newer model?

"little corrections to the design". If you are not an engineer with a very good eye and the real thing side by side, you won't notice.

Are there any differences to the locations of the mounting holes that will affect the PCB positioning inside the case? Are the "little corrections to the design" visible on the outside or only on the inside?
