3.5mm jack sockets

Hypothetical question. What would happen if the 9v power plug was plugged into the ear or mic socket accidentally on the ZX81?

Surprised Sinclair never went for a barrel jack socket for the power like the spectrum.

It is what it is, and it is as per the manual.
Well, as long as you don't leave it plugged in incorrectly for any length of time.

I was just thinking about changing the power 3.5mm socket with barrel jack socket.
If I find a suitable part I'll post back here

It’s rather unlikely that you will find a suitable barrel jack socket that will fit directly on the PCB.
