I killed my vla81

Post by BarryBrown »

I was following the directions for installing the vla81 along with the 32K RAM expansion. I tied pin 35 of the VLA to A13 (pin 26) of the RAM chip. But I didn't realize I needed to lift pin 26 out of the socket. By soldering the wire directly to pin 26, I fed 5v directly into pin 35 of the VLA.

Luckily, I had a second VLA81 and was able to wire it correctly.

Can the dead VLA be rescued? I'm hoping that something repairable, like an SMD component, can be replaced to bring it back to life.

My advice would be to contact the creator, Charlie.

His website is here ;-)

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :!:
Looking forward to summer later in the year.
