It's exactly what is written on it.
A 16k RAMpack.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

What's the BASIC 2000 all about? It's in all caps suggesting BASIC, not the word basic as in Basic 2000 16K RAM pack.

It could be a RAM pack for this BASIC 2000 / Lambda 8300 computer, which is a ZX81 like computer (not a clone, but similar).

Compare the case with the Sinclair version.

Or the Timex version.

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :!:

The Lambda 8300, which has many names, including Basic 2000, is not a direct clone of ZX81 but very similar.

The RAM packs and printers for the ZX81 can be used with it and visa versa. Most prefer the black RAM pack for their ZX81 and the beige RAM pack for their Lambda 8300, but they are interchangeable.

The ULAs in ZX81 and Lambda 8300 are different. Lambda includes beep-speaker and joystick port.

Software is not interchangeable, but if you use plain BASIC with no PEEK/POKE for specific addresses, Lambda 8300 will detect a ZX81 Basic program, load it and convert it to Lambda Basic. The other way around it not possible. Since there is almost no software for the Lambda 8300, and loads of software for ZX81, someone made a special version of the ZX81 ROM, which is compatible with the Lambda 8300, and then lots of ZX81 software works fine.
