Re: Zx81 laptop build
Tonight I breadboarded a video inverter that works with the basic composite mod. Now I know what I'll use the Channel select switch for

Re: Zx81 laptop build
I got sidetracked with a few deliveries that needed some attention:
SP0256-AL2 breadboarded and working for a modern Parrot card.
AY-3-8910 and AY-3-8912 breadboarded and working for a sound card.
I ordered multiple of each chip from different suppliers knowing that some would be bad and/or counterfeits. (I was not wrong)
But I do now have 2 good 8912, 2 good 256-AL2, and 1 good 8910
So, I can't complain.
Now that I know I have a working (and workable) set I can put those aside and get back to the main build.
Video inverter installed and working.
16k internal memory installed and working
Battery pack and power wiring done and waiting
TFT LCD ready and waiting
Microswitch keyboard done and waiting.
It's time to finish work on the designing and printing of the enclosure so it can all be put together.
