Hi,
This is the backbone of the Byte Back Modem, activated by logic gates to test individual bits of an entire byte.

He says the 8251 USART is good for 9600 bps.

Thanks! Not a few days later, I received a copy of TS Horizons that had the article in it. I'm not sure if I scanned it but I'll try to do that and post it to archive.org tonight.
