We will present the new zx81 keyboard at our ZX-Team annual meeting (29th until 31st March). See http://www.zx81.de/zxcms/English.html
Short after that we will open the preorder list. Further information will follow shortly after the meeting.

Yes, it a very nice "high quality" keyboard with mechanical Cherry MX switches. We tested different switch types (clicky and silent types, i.e. MX red, black and blue). The type feeling is outstanding - You will never use another keyboard for Your Zeddy ;-)

Naive question perhaps? Can the keyboard be attached to the internal headers for easier use in a new case rather than via the expansion port/board? It’d make a great keyboard for an enclosure for an “all in one” system.

Sure, no problem. It's compatible.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

As Paul already said, yes. It is an plug and play replacement for the origininal membrane keyboard. No additional electronics needed.
We will offer a nice cable set:

The external / edge connector interface solution is only for users who do not want to open the ZX81.
