Right. My design only allows connection at the rear. It is not easily modifiable to accommodate through holes. Starting over in EASYEDA using proper pads through holes and traces.

Hi all,

I'm getting back to finally sorting out the recreated FD42 extension board. Mr Robot on the AtariAge forums kindly created the PCB layout for me. Thanks also to Charles/Gammaray for the correct dimensions of the expansion port BUS. I took Marks advice to go with header pins for the vertical connector. I've attached the 3d renders of the proposed PCB which are currently missing the tracks as I was confirming the dimensions inside the case with paper templates. The renders show the header pins in place on the break off vertical connector but they will of course be right angled pins installed there.

Would it be possible to make up a two way connector to attach the extension to the 81 board without soldering? The extension PCB will have all double sided edge connectors.

If you have this connector next to the edge of your board, you can solder the top pins to the top and the bottom pins to the bottom.

You will have to make your board shorter for the connector to fit.

On his profile I can see he has 4 left. If you click "Notify When Back in Stock", you will get a notification when he opens his store again. Usually he closes the offers when he is on vacation.

You can also buy from eBay, but will have to cut it to size yourself.

Once I've got the extension made up I'm planning to install a barrel jack socket connected to an on/off rocker switch so I can use a good quality modern barrel type power supply of the correct rating. I should also modify the Zxpand+ so I can have the SDcard on the back of the case too. Any advice with any of those points would be gratefully received. I should then finally have a nice setup to use :D
