Network/internet access has been done before on the ZX81. But using Wi-Fi, that's new I believe? Cool in any case though.
Based on the omnipresent ESP8266 as could be expected. Which has more compute power built in than a whole cluster of ZX81's but who cares.

During the annual ZX-Team-Meeting at Mahlerts (Germany) we often used during the last years this WLAN adapter (connected to the ZeddyNet network card) to take the ZX81 into the internet:
