Not necessary to remove the speaker just to show me the glue.

Re: Mr-X Soundcard
It's more of a double sided sticky tape than glue and let's just say it's not as sticky 30 years on i.e. I didn't actually choose to remove it.PokeMon wrote:Not necessary to remove the speaker just to show me the glue.

Re: Mr-X Soundcard
Blimey, those grey caps are old, date code 1969!!
Re: Mr-X Soundcard
Well - the 7472 seem to be old too, 1975.
Maybe they bought the capacitors as NOS in the early 80ies as well.

Yet the poly caps look like a more modern replacement.PokeMon wrote:Well - the 7472 seem to be old too, 1975.

The issue 2 used Mullard C280 “tropical fish” poly caps.
Would think that the code on the electolytics is a batch code rather than a date code as they look in remarkably good condition for nearly 50 years old!
Looking at the speaker from the rear it appears to be turned 90 deg to the right from the issue 2 board, the speaker wire pick up points being on the top of the issue 5 board, and the pick up points being on the left of the issue 2 board.
Some more pics here.

I will re-draw the schematic, I have a pretty good idea of how it all works.1024MAK wrote:Alas, I suspect the pictures in the post you are talking about bit the dust along with the other attachments in the other threads during the time Richard had problems with the forum
Edited to add: my mistake, the dead picture links are due to the loss of an external website As Richard explains below...
So unless someone downloaded them, or they got archived, they are lost .

I will post the schematic here, for comments, and posterity.

Hi Mahjongg,
you say that any odd address can be used... i think you meant for only the high nibble so.
$1F, $3F, $5F, $7f are treated the same
and then
$9F, $BF, $DF, $FF are treated the same
