My friend was faster than me. Thank you. I think I got the TS1510 back yesterday but I wasn't here to sign for the package, so I'll have to go to the Post Office Monday.

José Leandro and superfo have helped me preserve several pieces of hardware, more than once. I really, really appreciate it.

It's incredible how expensive TS1510 cartridges can be. I wanted to buy the ones that were listed on eBay this week, but it was more than I could afford. I'm sad to say that I'm almost sure the buyer will never do what I wanted to do: Have the cartridges contents preserved as .hex or .dck files.

Superfo, is there any difference between the cartridge dump you created and regular .dck files? I remember Jose telling me that sometimes emulators had trouble with .dck files and some information at the beginning of the file dump had to be changed. EightyOne appears to handle .dck files better than other emulators.

Now, regarding TS1510 cartridge files, how could we load these in emulators?

@Rich: The TS1500 is basically a ZX81 with an internal 16K rampack. It resembles a Spectrum but it has nothing to do with it. The TS1500 can also use the ZX81 16K rampack, bringing its ram to a total of 32KB.

This TS1510 clone can be used by any TS1000/ZX81 user to load cartridge software. Think of it as an Interface 2 for the ZX81.

Now if the TS1510 can be used with a ZX81, then there should be a market out there for it - all we need is an easy means of having a cartridge with Flash EPROM, so that it can be used for saving and loading!!

I sent a message to the seller of the ebay cartridges, asking him to direct the buyer to this thread.

Anyway, as there were only ever four cartridges made would it not be possible to burn all of them to a single eprom?

Yes, you could put 4 (and even more) software titles in just one cartridge. But first we have to dump the contents of all cartridges. For now we only have "States and Capitals" and a few hours ago Rod Humphries from the TS2068 group offered to lend "Super Math", the only TS1510 cartridge that he has. That would leave us with two more in the list: Flight Simulator and Chess.

But please remember that preserving the 4 rare cartridges is only the beginning. Now that we have the schematics for the interface and cartridges, anyone could make their own and even develop new ways of loading software on their ZX81. Yes, I know there are several IDE interfaces nowadays, but for those who like to keep it simple this is a nice alternative. I like to compare it to Paul Farrow's work, which has shown us that the Interface 2 can do much more than it was originally designed to do.
