AZMIC ROM

Post by RWAP »

The AZMIC ROM is a 4K ROM created by C Frazer Johnson and available from:

http://zx81stuff.org.uk/zx81/generated/ ... ICE07.html

This claims to turn the ZX81 into an assembly language programming unit, with a full screen editor, multi-file system, assembler, debugger, and support for hi-res graphics.

Does anyone have a copy of the manual?

It would also help if there was a text document with at least the mnemonics

I have just found some discussion at:
http://forum.tlienhard.com/TS1000/www.t ... 401388.htm

This includes some comments from the author himself.

There is even a partially disassembly of the ROM at:

"The other issue of the sloping display is the kind that gives my nightmares... I have a 1-T error in my z80 core somewhere that Azmic has just discovered.

Uh, wow.. this explains few things on the difficulties I was having to get a stable display with some z88dk program, expecially when working on the ZX80.

There is a scanned and OCRed version of the english manual on the net, as well as a German graphical scan. I do have them at home as well.

Do you have a link to the manuals - I could not see them anywhere!

Should anyone wish to experiment with the ASZMIC ROM on a real ZX81, then it can be run from the ROM cartridge facility of the Chroma interface. Program the ASZMIC ROM into a ZXC4 ROM cartridge and then plug it into the Chroma interface. The ROM cartridge completely overrides the ZX81's internal ROM. The ROM cartridge socket can also be used to run the Skywave FORTH ROM and other custom ROM programs.

Further details about the Chroma interface can be found on this thread.

It's maybe about the wrong spelling. It's name is ASZMIC and not AZMIC.
If you search with ASZMIC ZX81 rom the second entry will post to an english manual, not scanned, really plain text. 8-)

Yep, that's the one I did ages ago. Don't ask me why I chose to OCR it, and not save the scans. Forever gone from my HDDs.

A deep dive into the old directories revealed the zip I made of both the text and the original dump of the ROM. If anyone need them I can try to attach here.
