Now the question is: which emulators does the ASZMIC ROM actually work on. I tried it with sz81 by renaming the .bin file to zx81.rom and put it into the data directory for sz81. That did not work. There was a funny cursor display. Anybody tried it with other emulators?

The cursor is blinking and is toggling between a space and an inverted space. Is that what you mean with funny ? This is normal. ;)

Here is an unofficial version of z81 for Linux that may be started with the "-xz" options to load the ASZMIC rom (07) (which should be installed on the system as usual for the zx80 and zx81 roms): http://rullf2.xs4all.nl/sg/z81-2.3.tar.gz
It includes preliminary code for saving and loading data.

Pokemon, There was no full cursor, just some odd looking graphics junk.

Olofsen, Thanks for the pointer to z81. I'll have to give that a try.

The ASZMIC ROM sounds interesting and might be worth tinkering with.

On Linux you can also use WINE and run EightyOne.

How hard would it be to recompile AZSMSZMIK to run out of RAM at 8K? Quite hard I imagine. Also - why does it require its own display routine?
