Nuclear Power Station briefcase?

eBay: Sinclair ZX81 + PSU in metal carry case GBP 326.40

A well designed industrial enclosure for the ZX81. Looks to be done right -- at the least, it has passed an Electrical Safety Test. Rugged aluminium case with all ZX81 connectors passed to the case for external use

with uncased RAM PACK attached to rear of ZX81

Looks like the TV out is going to the BNC connector

BOTTOM: rubber feet and two screws going into the aluminium case to hold the noise filter

BACK
  • Sticker: 'PASSED Electrical Safety Test'
  • TTL OUT jack RCA
  • TTL IN jack RCA
  • 3 small jacks (EAR,MIC,9V DC)
  • BNC connector

tight fitting metal lid to keep RF in. Would this cause the ZX81 to overheat?

There are two screws, one on each side, to secure the lid

Aluminium is a good conductor of heat. The large surface area of the aluminium case may be enough cooling for this arrangement.
