Winky board II by G.Russell - Electronics

Post by makeit2day »

I have a Winky board II by G.Russell - Electronics and I would like to find the wiring diagram for it
to understand how it works. Has any one seen the diagram for it and could it be posted on this site
if available.

Thanks.

There is talk about this on viewtopic.php?f=7&t=261.

I understand it is an interface to help improve the LOAD / SAVE signal.

Could you maybe upload some pictures?

I had the Winky II but have lost it over time. It was an interface that would help Save, Load and Copy (to another Cassette recorder) programs. I believe there also was software so you could speed up loading 4X. I could never get it to load at 4X speed though.

I actually knew G. Russell. He was the head of the Users Group at the college I went to. He was very innovative. He was working on adding color display to the ZX81. His idea was to flash characters on and off at different frequencies that matched the color spectrum.

Can anyone explain how this board works on a technical level? I gather it contains a splitter, a noise filter, and signal level LEDs. There are no ICs or transistors. The Instructions dessony posted tell you how to use it, but not much about how it works

Here's two photos from the Timex collection

The jack at right angle to the others is the "evesdrop" port for headphones

The 3.5 jack on the wire always goes to "Tape Recorder Monitor jack", EXCEPT when using the board in "Save filter mode"
