Yeah ZXpand doesn't seem to throw an error if a file doesn't exsist if you try to load the non-exsistent file from inside a program, try from the command line and it throws an error everytime.

one of those quirks

Glad you got it sorted, yeah well it's pretty much just a few keytests easy to change if it's not quite what Yerz is after.

No no, thx a lot, this should be it!
I will test it later today.

(I'm only afraid of the RAM stuff and the 'config' thingies that are black magic to me, but I suspect I don't have files bigger than 8kb after all).

Thx again,
Y

Andy Rea wrote:With regards to the ZX48 (spectrum) tap files of uncompiled songs, i see whats going on now.... they are saved as samples, positions map, song length, ornaments, delay value, pattern lenght, and finally patterns, but in the memory image the different elements are in another different order.
Shouldn't be too hard to knock up something that can convert the tap to SNG.
Aha. Might be really cool indeed.

Meanwhile I tested the STC player with keyboard control and it worx FINE!!!!!! :)

Hmmmmmmm.
I loaded the Soundtracker, entered the SampleEdit.
I made the first column into max vol. Press "0". Silence. I change the "mask" with M key. 0 again.
Silence. I tested STC player but music plays OK.
Strange.

Hi yerz, it's a quirk.. you have to have a note value in channel A of the current edit line ( also an ornament of you like ) I might get round to changing it someday but as samples can sound vastly different when a bass note is used against a high pitch note, this way allows you to tweak your sample to fit the range of notes your going to use with it.

so just make sure channel A has for example C-4 xF00 (the x doesn't matter it will use the sample your editing) Oh and make sure channel A is not muted, you can mute B and C if you already have notes there.

Hi guys,

I wanted to report a bug.
I created an instrument (no. 9) and then made some test thing on channel A.
Then I wanted to edit another instrument (no. E). When I entered 'edit instrument E', then I found there is random noise already. I made "exit to the main screen" and then the program crashed.

I hope it's helpful somehow.

Yyyyyyyyyeah, actually I understand You, believe me.
I can imagine how annoying making a music-editor must be .

I noticed now it's a beta, so I get it - there could be nothing more than that, however if there will be anything more (finally after all those demos I have some private time for me, to sit with ZX81 and a tracker :) ), now I have a soli info:

any time You enter instrument E anf F to edit them - there is random noise (visible and audible).
All of the rest seems to be OK.

Meanwhile I will be making more test, like I promissed a month or two ago.

Will keep You informed.

Greetzzzzzzzzzzz!! ;)

No problem at all dude.

Anyway, I must admit that's a great piece of software. I spent last 3 hours poring over it :) :) :) and I say it was HUGE FUN making chiptune music on ZX81 with its excellent keyboard!! :) :) :)

Considering I have 2 instruments less, the song isn't very complicated (a lot of tricks are being made with mixing various instruments :) ), but still it's a great thing and I made almost all required instruments and ornamets now -
and also I started making some (typical for me ;) ) italo-disco song, hahah.

Thx a lot guyz for Your work - I have fun with it and surely I will show it on many parties. :)
