zxpand+ zonx81

Post by juzzo72 »

hello
i am not an expert on zx81, but i am trying to make a game in assembler. I'm having trouble understanding how the 3 channels of the zxpand + / zonx81 work.
I did some tests following the zonx81 manual, the sounds come out but not as I would like.
I ask the experts if they can help me.
The question is:
Can I use 2 tone channels and one noise channel at the same time?
I already have the codes for a noise channel and 1 tone channel, but I can't get them to play at the same time
thank you

To answer your question, Yes, you can have the sounds going at once. Looks like your questions aren't specific to zxpand but general to using the AY chip - there's lots of info on how the sound chip works with a bit of google searching. Those general resources will tell you how to use the channels. There's some tools too that will help you experiment with the voices. I found one called AYFXEDIT to play with that stuff.

Great, good luck on your project! Thanks to ZXPand, me and my buddy are doing our first Zeddy asm game with HRG and sound right now, though we usually code in the cold months...
