ZX8-CCB WITH SYNC / -> MINSTREL ZX80

Post by gammaray »

On the new design, ss there any way to make sure the video is compatible or adaptable to the "Minstrel ZX80"?

I believe issue two board has a composite output already.

Maybe the "Zync Generator" can be modded to add the sync without the composite CCB board? :?

This means you "POKEMON"... (I am bending low in supplication... but I do have to work Tuesday so can't stay this way too long )

I don't know anything about MINSTREL ZX80.
Not sure what exactly you are asking for. :?

Hi PokeMan,

I don't know much about it either but was going to buy a board just to tinker with. Take a look here: https://www.tindie.com/products/tynemou ... x80-clone/ Basically he's built a functional ZX80 clone that's arranged to fit inside a ZX81 case. I decided I have way too many projects going on at the moment so I haven't bought a board yet.

Best,

I guess there is no need for a ZX8-CCB as the MINSTREL already has a composite video out:
The first thing is that is not the same size as a ZX80, but has been designed to be the same form factor as the ZX81, with the same mounting points and connectors. The big silver box of a UM1233 UHF modulator is missing. I have replaced that with the single transistor composite video buffer. The phono connector is composite video out in the same location as the original UHF out.

On a regular ZX80 there is no sync and no buffer for video during computation and keypress.

Even without RF using composite signal. The sync gen poke is working on would be useful?

Ya?Na?

I bought an unpopulated Minstrel board.

I plan remove the mainboard of '81 out of a case for another project and put in the M'ZX80.

The reset, rom select, and the video jumpers need to be relocated so that the '81 case does not have to be opened for changes. Bought SIL connectors to use with KeyDLX FFC cable. Also bought MOLEX from CONNFLY in case I make external.
