Links to Games

Post by RWAP »

It would probably help if I put a link to the latest published ZX81 games and programs on my website - www.rwapsoftware.co.uk

Can people email me a short description and link to where the game can be downloaded, so that I can create a page for ZX81 programs. I can also host the files, but do not want to create more than one download link, in case of updates to the programs.

It would also help if the games were supplied / available in .zip format rather than .rar (or anything else) as this is more commonly used.

Please note: I will only post links with the author's permission as I do not encourage breaches of copyright and the CDs which are issued with 100s of games for the ZX81 and emulators, without the games being public domain.

So far, I have the following titles but need descriptions etc:
8K Adventure (what is the best version of this) - can we come up with a better name?
The Valley of Adventure (15.99K Adventure)
Ferengi
Ball Blaster
Retro Beamer (and Retro Beamer 2)
Alien Mind

Hi there.

As for the hosting, I do appreciate the offer but I think it isn't required. I have my account on e-demo (where I made a portal with Z80 chip music which I'm a big fan of. http://z80.e-demo.pl/ )

Feel free to correct my ugly English language mistakes.

So - the game is entitled "Ferengi" and it's here http://yerzmyey.e-demo.pl/ferengi_zx81.rar
It is a continuation of the classic ZX-81 game "Klingons". You have to fly in asteroid fields and collect as more gold-pressed latinum (lost by a Klingon's spaceship) as possible. Controls: cursors 5 & 8 (left/right).
The archive contains *.P files for emulator and setup for tape-recorder users (including original cover-arts for the cassette).
Program has been made by Yerzmyey/H-PRG and Andre*** in 06.2008. There are two version of the game: for unexpanded Timex 1000 and for expanded ZX81/TS machines.

Many thanx for Your support, man. :)

That is fine if you wish to host it - I will add the link to my website when I get chance.

Any possibility you could make a zip version available also?

Yes, I will make a ZIP but in this case it will be noticeably bigger and in this case I would have to send You the file (into e'mail sales_AT_rwapsoftware.co.uk I presume) and would have to ask You for hosting it this time.
If these are not problems then of course I will send the ZIP file of course.
Thanks!

HI Rwap,
So far, I have the following titles but need descriptions etc:
8K Adventure (what is the best version of this) - can we come up with a better name?
The Valley of Adventure (15.99K Adventure)
Ferengi
Ball Blaster
Retro Beamer (and Retro Beamer 2)
Alien Mind
I'm agree with your idea.
But, i'm not agree to merge all programs and games.

We use to put all zx81's programs in the same directory!
(like the http://zx81.nl web site)

You had to parse all files in different status:

For example:

1/New retro-programers softwares : Recents freeware.

2/Abandon-magazine softwares : Typed-in programs. (Ordi-5;Echo Sinclair;Zx Computing;Sinclair Users)

3/Commercals softwares : betteen 1981-1986.

You can collecte all web links, but you can't collect ftp link with P or Zip files.
You had to find the main download page how display authors, site mainteners and the program info.

In case of "The Valley of adventure"
You can link to the ftp://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/k7/download/
But, a download page is available http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/k7/k7.htm

the link :
http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/k7/download/T ... enture.zip
isn't is this page now... (it must be debugged!)

In case of retro programers, André*** ...
ftp://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/andre/download
http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/andre will be more representative regard André's work.

I'm not agree to link all raw downloadable files...
But, collecte all web sites by autors, not by files.
download file name may change!

Retro-Programers:----------------------------
ANDRE*** (Fr):http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/andre
Stafford WHITE (Fr):http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/stafford
Philippe DUHAMEL (Fr):http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/philippe
Jens Sommerfeld (Fr):http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/jens
XavSnap (Fr):http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/xavsnap

Abondon-magazine (Typed-in programs):--------
Ordi-5 : http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr
Hebdogiciel : http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/hebdogiciel

Comercials games:----------------------------
http://zx81.ordi5.free.fr/k7/k7.htm

Have Fun.

Perhaps you misunderstood the idea - a page with links to lots of other sites just does not make for interesting (or easy reading).

Some background on each game - what it does, memory requirements etc, and who the author is, is much more interesting - the games could be made alphabetical and linked - much like the Speccy ones on World of Spectrum. I refuse to promote software which is still potentially listed in breach of copyright, so will not link to a website that has lots of commercial software for download - although I am happy to link to a page specifically about that program.

The banner comes from the days when I started up my business - writing software for the Sinclair QL, back in 1987.
SMSQ/e is the operating system for the latest QLs!!

It has since expanded into all the Sinclair computers...
