Atlantis FOUND
Re: Atlantis FOUND
I have access to 'different' but not better.
The wav you have was produced by playing the cassette on a decent hi-fi deck into a good sound card.
I could try lesser equipment, on the assumption that it might be more forgiving?

Re: Atlantis FOUND
Sounds like a plan
I don't know why but none of the converters I've tried will latch on to the signal. I've tried filtering, inverting, dehumungeinating, well ok maybe not the last one, with no joy. I was looking up some code to do peak following and I might have a go at doing a converter myself. If I can find some time

Re: Atlantis FOUND
I understand the time problem only too well. My Zeddy has been tucked away in a drawer for 2 weeks
Re: Atlantis FOUND
I had a thought. Would it be possible to decypher the 'header' and work out the program name? That way we can get an idea if this is some lost program or something commonly found (Psion's Flight Simulator was also on the tape - first game I pirated....)
Re: Atlantis FOUND
I was just thinking that if the program name suggests this recording is of something already available then it might not be worth the effort.
On the other hand, it might still be a fun challenge.

'Does the number 31 mean anything to anyone?'
It appears to be the name of the tape file in question...
**EDIT
With some aggressive filtering, manual adjustment of a few samples and some tweaking of settings in the tapeutils config I've managed to convert it.
It's 3D monster maze :¬)

Re: Atlantis FOUND
That is so amusing. I don't ever remember having a pirated copy of 3D Monster Maze. What I do remember is being the first "kid on the block" to own it And even more amusing, last weekend I found my original copy. After much perusing of adverts I chose Catacombs as my first 16K game and then 3D Monster Maze as my second.
I distinctly remember the cassette, and I'm not surprised that Flight Simulator and Atlantis are on it as it was my first 'pirate' cassette.
Hey ho...thanks for decoding it!
If anyone is interested in Atlantis I'll see about converting it to a .p file
