I used Simon H's converter:

Sample 1 had a few dropouts but sample 2 appeared to convert cleanly.

And now I know where the tape cape from. In the listing there's reference to a P. Medland of Hitchin. He's Paul Medland, the guy I had a meeting with to discuss marketing the games I was writing at the time (1983) and where to buy wholesale C12 cassettes, boxes and suchlike. He must have given it to me as an example of something that he was publishing.
Now I need to figure out how to play it!
