Planets by Kamisoft

Post by angus »

I've been delving in my old tapes stored at my mother's house, and found a few of my ZX81 tapes (yeah!). One is Planets by Kamisoft. I have no inlay and the cassette looks professionally but very cheaply printed. I remember owning and playing this title but don't actually remember what kind of game it is and can't find any references to it online.

I shall try the tape later, but was just wondering for now if anybody is familiar with this?

Not familiar with it, but if it hasn't been preserved and if it isn't available on the zx81stuff's website would you consider trying to make a digital copy of it and scanning the inlay?

I don't have an inlay but I do have hte original cassette. There are dropouts and I've not yet managed to load it into an emulator but I am very happy to send a .WAV to anyone who is interested in trying. It's around 6 minutes long and the program is recorded once on each side of the cassette.

I don't remember buying that game so I am pretty sure it was a gift.

Reconstruction may be possible with wavs of both sides. I'd love to have a go!

OK totally giving up on my webspace. Suffice to say that when I last used it, it was NTL. They were taken over by Virgin Media who generally do a great job but they've totally *****d up the FTP settings and I seem to be unable to connect even using their new settings

So I am attempting to attach some large files here and it's not working. I've attached a photo of the cassette.

The WAV files are around 16Mb each. Can somebody suggest a way I can get them out to the people who want to try and reconstruct the audio? I can try emailing.

Hi Angus,
could you ZIP the files and then try to post them here? I don't know the maximum file size, which is allowed here in the forum. But some 100 kB should be possible ..

Zipped they are still 10 Mb, I can probably email them but cannot attach them here.

OK it was my firewall settings causing the problem!

Two WAV files and the jpeg of the cassette will shortly be available here
