Name of Software:
Game of Life v1.0.2 ZX81

Author:
Donkeysoft

Release Date:
30th April 2013

Requirements:
16K

Description:
Not really a proper game, as such, but certain rules are set within a grid which will determine whether or not cells survive. It's a well-known programming experiment, been done many times before.
It's a bit slow, especially for the larger grids. Maybe a future update will be better.

Screenshots:
Nope.

Name of Software:
Maze-K

Author:
dancresp

Release Date:
28th December 2013
2nd January 2014 (Redux version)

Requirements:
1K

Description:
This game is a BASIC programme made to work within the confines of an unexpanded ZX81.
Translated by Google from the original author -
'THE GAME
The object of the game is to get out of a maze that has a size of 9x9 = 81 squares. Each grid can display between 1 and 4 ways, and we will move with the cursor keys 5, 6, 7 and 8.
The "+" sign just to the right of the maze indicates the depth at which we find ourselves.
[The] Initial position is random, and leaving the number of movements performed is shown.'

Further notes for the Redux version: this version eliminates the 'flicker' bug on the 'PAUSE' command by copying the variable 'P' to the already used 'F'. A condition in line 27 checks if both are equal and loops back to line 26. P will change when a key is pressed, and therefore player can move and the maze and player is redrawn. The RAND USR VAL "2602" trick is used to clear the screen, rather than CLS. The game therefore should be slightly faster.

Nope.

Name of Software:
Minesweep 1K Redux (aka Mine-Field)

Author:
dancresp (mostly) and Donkeysoft (slight improvements?)

Release Date:
2th January 2014

Requirements:
1K

Description:
This is a version of the classic Mine Sweeper that used to frustrate me back in the days of Windows 3.11. This game was originally written in Sinclair BASIC by dancresp over at the Spanish Language forums (original listing was published at zonadepruebas.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3878&p=35988). I take no credit for the logic, but made the following changes:

* Line numbers start from 1 and increase by 1.
* Lines with FAST and SLOW were removed and the USR VAL "3875" and USR VAL "3883" tricks were used respectively.
* There is some attempts at handling each keyboard input to ensure that only two numbers are entered to help prevent crashes by typos (lines 15 and 18).
* 0 means that the square is safe, 1 or more indicates a bomb is close to the square, an inverse X means that you've uncovered a bomb. USR VAL "3160" is used to call the STOP command.
* The whole game is in 27 lines (excluding SAVE and RUN), rather than over 30 in the original.

How to play:
On loading, the game should auto-run. Enter a cell by typing the row and then the column that you wish to check by typing the relevant digits. When you're ready, press NEW LINE. Hit a mine and the game stops.

Nope.
