Okay, I think it's done. Presenting ZX-NIBBLER CE (Centred Edition):

I think I've nailed all the bugs, but if you find any let me know. Might tweak the screen furniture slightly, but you can't have the "AREA" readout in the middle because something gets POKEd over it at some point. There's scope to mess around with it but I quite like it where it is, slightly staggered and connecting the score readout to the play area, kind of like a sign hanging from a beam.

[EDIT: Stage 7 was a block to the left, have updated download with fixed version.]

FINAL FINAL VERSIONS

Added high score display to balance the screen out a bit better, and an alternative cassette box. I think the Alt version of the game (top pic) now definitely looks the better of the two.

Nibbler with redefinable keys patch

Post by GCHarder »

I hate it when keys aren't redefinable.

Hope this didn't break anything.

Greg

I've updated the zip with the final...final...final version.

Excellent! The built-in keys are TERRIBLE, but I didn't know how to change them and I'd remapped them with an emulator anyway. Any chance you could apply the patch to the latest versions, with the proper attract-mode text and the high-score display?
