Oh no not again - ZEDRAGON II

Post by sirmorris »

Yes, yes again.

But this time - pixel scrolling. Yes you heard me. PIXEL SCROLLING. Which is, I think, a never-before-seen feature in a ZX81 game* This feature is brought to you courtesy of our very own nollkolltroll AKA Adam K, based on the work of Andy Rea. Thank you gentlemen.

The new version has had the map tuned some more after player feedback, and I've added a little surprise - 6 secret bonus mines. Find 'am all. You'll know when you hit one. The pixel scrolling makes the caves (everyone's favourite part ;)) a little easier. Trust me

Anyway give it a whirl, let me know what you think.

Source code and freshest binary always available in github, and here in the first post.

Hardware requirements: UDG4ZXpand, 32k RAM at 8-40K. Optional: AY interface (ZXPand+AY, ZXpand+, MR.X, Zon-X), joystick (ZXpand+AY, ZXPand+). Runs well in EO, using CHR$16 mode.

* yes, yes I know, 25th anni, rezurrection, metropolis - but they're DEMOS. DEMOS I tell yeh. Not games.

Finally I managed to play zedragon today.
As always I am feature creeping.
After a few seconds it tells me: MISSION FAILED
it would be kind to tell me how far I came. Something like :MISSION 0.2% COMPLETED
could you please add this to your "nice to have"?
Kind regards Paul
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Nooo! Getting a result of 0.0 or 0.1% is even more depressing

There are four lights!
Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :!:
Looking forward to summer later in the year.

It is extremely fulfilling to see how you actually USED what I coded. The game is a new golden standard for ZX81-quality :D

There already is a kind-of mission status in the 'zone' counter. There are 7 zones. Be afraid

Is that one of the many zeroes I see?
