Actually, I bought the ZX81 on a whim with the idea of just playing around with it. I had no idea the ZX81 dev scene was so alive and vibrant until I came across this forum, some pretty cool stuff around here :D
Nice job. Personally i just love the look and feel of the standard charset graphics (+ wrx hires always feels a bit like cheating to me) so it will be very unlikely i will go hires myself any time soon, but i just got to tip my hat to you sir for pulling it off on the default 16k machine ;-)

thanks for that - especially coming from someone like yourself, from what I've seen you've done a lot of very impressive stuff (and I agree with you about wrx :) )
