HI, y'all! Thats yankeespeak for hello. Does anyone want to talk about zed-ex emu for Android? I just wrote to wofspeccy and was told to bugger off! Arnt we all on seeking the same end result? The preservation of sinclair computer information mainly?

Hi zappadog, and welcome :)

That's britspeak for ... err hello and welcome

I think the most likely place to start with an emulator on Android would be the SZ81 emulator source; http://sz81.sourceforge.net/

I wouldn't be surprised if someone is already working on it, though I haven't heard anything...

Hello Zappadog,

I can't believe that at WoS you are asked to bugger off. In fact I can't even find your name on the memberlist.
There is a Android thread on WoS, but I can't see posts about zed-ex. But welcome to RWAP.

Indeed, welcome to the forums.

A ZX81 emulator for the Android would be excellent :)

Hallo zappadog! That's germanspeak for hello ;) and welcome to our forum.
Zed-ex seems to be an existing emulator in beta state for android (as google said). Are you involved in the develpoment?
Well I don't have any android thing, but I like zeddys very much.
If you have any questions just feel free to ask. We will try to help as good as we can.
Is there a good working android emulator for mac out there so I could try zed-ex on my desktop?
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

A colleague of mine has an Android tablet. He downloaded it and the ZX-Basic works.
I entered a mini program, saved it.
After new and load "test" the sceen had lines, I think it was trying some audio load?
Then I found the load function under the virtual keyboard and found the previously saved programs. It loaded ok and worked.
Seems to be a bit slower than original, but I'm not shure ;)
Is there also a ZX80 mode?

Sorry, I am not involved with Zed Ex developement. You see, I own an "El-cheapo" tablet that doesn't allow Android Market apps to be downloaded. I had hoped you chaps already knew where I could obtain it without a 'droid phone. I guess my next step is to find somebody with a smartphone and is "smart" enough to download it to a SD card for me.

I'll ask my colleague. He already has it on his tablet ;)
Wouldn't it be more interesting to get your tablet opened to the market? There should be alternative firmwares. Is it rooted?
I always wonder what use tablets and phones are if they aren't allowed to connect to the markets, not only android. Well, except for making phone calls of course ;)
Is this emulator in more than one market?

My chinkatronic tablet can download from some app repositories like Slideme and App Planet directly--sometimes. For instance, I have a speccy emu and atari 2600 emu. I can also download .apk files from WOS onto an SD card then "side load". I would probably pay to get a goodzx81 emu. Without ads, of course!
