Hello all,
Just signed up for this forum. I'm from Denmark, and this is my story.. As a child, I was very attracted to computers and electronic gaming. The ZX81 was no exception. Saw it in magazines, and really wanted one. But things turned out differently for me. In Denmark, there is a toy store chain called "BR Legetøj" ("BR Toys" in english). They had a computer called a "Power 3000", which is the same as the "Lambda 8300", but with different case colors. It was on display in the toy store, and I tried it a bit. I was in love! I never knew it was a ZX-81 clone back then, I just thought it was a cool computer. And I loved it's case design. Much cooler than the Lambda 8300, in my opinion. Some time later, I talked to my parents about getting one. They told me, if I wanted one I had to save up for it. I got weekly pocket money from them, but it wasn't much. I was about 7-9 years old back then, but my brain quickly calculated, that it would take an eternity until I could afford it with pocket money. So.. I got cranky.. I yelled something at them, as I slammed the door. Little did I know, that they already got it for me at that moment. It was already IN THE HOUSE! It was nearly my birthday, and I got the best present ever! Man, I loved that thing.. Spent soo much time with it. Many years later, I got a C64. But that's another story.
