However would much prefer to get the 3e rom working if possible with the 8bit interface as the menu works really well and can't see any PP equivalent.

Does your CF card work with +3e ~ROM in +2A/B or +3 machine? It might be an issue with reset line to the CF card. You can connect this line to the CF card via a resistor or a transistor buffer.It might be also an issue with the CF card partitioning. Personally I gave up with this interface when it is connected to any +48 or 128K/+2 grey Speccy.

With my +2A IDE I could format the card using the format command but with +2 Grey PP rom is there a way to format the card from the spectrum or do you use driveimage to initialise the card ?

I am looking to add a simple IDE Interface to a Grey +2 128K and am struggling with the right ROM as well....
