Spectrum +2 Grey 8bit IDE Issue

Post by axeman »

Hi,

I've made a few 8bit simple IDE interface boards for the +2A, +2B and +3 which all work fine but I'm struggling to do the same for my +2 Grey.

Tried putniks rom which boots up ok but can't get any files to display when trying the ca h command with a 512mb CF card. Tried using driveimage to initialise and transfer games to the card but just get "Invalid file name"

Anyone any ideas or know of correct Rom to use for +2 grey ?

Hi,

There ROMs are for 48K machines and they works with Pera's version of 8-bit CF interface, not 8-bit universal IDE. As far as I know there are no ROM crafted for ether 128K or +2 Grey.

Anyway, have you change ports used by this interface with Pera's 48K ROMs? They are different to these used by +3e ROM in +2A/B & +3.

Pera's ROMs work with different address lines. Schematic diagram for my interface you can find there: https://worldofspectrum.org/zxplus3e/fi ... ch_smd.pdf

Might it be possible to modify the +3e roms?

Well I think it might be possible but there are better interfaced available on the market.

How did you make ROM image for 128K/+2 machine? Did you replace its second half of the original ROM with PP version?

I just tried the first half with the PP version without any second half on a 27F256 and it boots ok. The CF IDE adapter LED lights up on trying to access with 'ca h'
