Hi
there seems to be 26 pins at the connector.

I don't know that interface, but I think it is designed to behave like a PC's 25 pin printer port.
Thus the interface connector can be connected 1:1 (ribbon cable) to a 25 pin "centronics type" D-SUB connector (one wire not connected).
The 25 pole connector is described there:

PS: something like that:

The 26 way IDC connector pin-out is either the same, or similar to the Acorn BBC parallel Printer port (pin out here).

The cable for use with a printer is a IDC 26 pin connector to a 36 pin Amphenol connector (see these two Wikipedia articles here and here). This is known as a Centronics printer interface.

Here are some photos (link).

The software this was used with is called Tasword Two, or Tasword Three.

See attached. You need 26 wire ribbin cable and the two connectors. The red stripe on the cable in the photos is pin 1 of both connectors (there’s a small triangle to indicate it on the end that connects to the interface). Notice how on the centronics connector (blue) that it aligns to one side and does not run full width.

I remember having one of these; and they do work with the ZX81 (though I think it was more sold as a Spectrum interface)
