I have put in a vLA128 and it has made no difference to the jail bars.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Many thanks!!!!

For jailbar reduction you could add caps to the memory chips..

The vertical white lines was something I came across before, the RGB signal was too strong for the monitor, and I was able to adjust monitor settings to fix

I think you have to replace all caps initially. Then replace C28 with a 47uF capacitor (original is 22uF, right of the 5 way keyboard connector)
Replace caps C7 and C8 with 1uF ceramic capacitors (next to IC12 and IC13 RAM chips, bottom left of the board). You could also add 1uF caps underneath the board between all of the ram power lines.

Sorry, that should have been 1nF caps below the RAM, I believe it is over the power lines between, but have a look at this video of it being done to a +2.

Recently I got an RGB to HDMI upscaler (from this thread https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14430) and it was jaw droppingly good on my beebs.

The seller now sells a Toastrack / grey +2 variant along with the correct cable as well (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RGBTOHDMI-HD ... 635-2958-0).
I bought just the cable and hooked it up to my poor output Toastrack and the picture is stunning with none of the artefacts previously seen via the RGB to SCART connection (even though it is using the same output). I honestly can’t over exaggerate how good the picture is - it is emulator quality.
Obviously you will need to make other arrangements for sound as this is not handled but a small price to pay!
