ZX Dandanator programming with EPROM programmer

Post by Skeet »

Hi,
I am new to faffing with Sinclair computers, I've repaired a few and have some knowledge of BASIC programming, so please forgive my lack of knowledge.
Has anyone burnt spectrum games/ programs directly onto a new SST39SF040 flash memory chip with an EPROM Programmer to use in the Dandanator?
I was going to save a copy of the supplied ROM on this chip with the programmer, delete the supplied games from the chip leaving the Dandanator firmware, save this file then add the games/ programmes I want to this image and burn it all on to a new SST39SF040 flash memory chip to use in the he Dandanator.
Is it his possible/ feasible?
Are any other steps required or specific locations for each game required?
Is it possible to just dump several games on to the flash device without any firmware and run them from the spectrum?
Any help and advice would be most appreciated.

I don’t have a Dandanator, so I can’t answer all your questions.

However, in principle, yes you could copy the data, then assemble your own data and write (“burn”) it back to the chip.

I don’t know how the data for games is arranged or how the required bank switching is done.
