if you have something like a vdriveZX you can connect your traditional microdrive to it and using software like Trans Express, or the MOVE program that comes on the Microdrive demo cartridge you can copy the files from your traditional microdrive onto an SD card in the vdrive. From there you can transfer the mdr file from the sd card to a pc, phone or whatever.

Depends on what you want to backup and how good you are at programming.
Excluding commercial software, BASIC programs, screens$, unprotected machine code etc, may be able to be saved to tape (or other audio device). Or sent over the RS232 port to a PC. The later does require a lot more knowledge, as the Sinclair support for this is not that good.
