Greaseweazle for +3 disks - help

Post by Erm »

Has anyone got any experience using a Greaseweazle to image original Spectrum +3 3" disks?

I have the cabling sorted, ribbon adapter, 5v/12v power connections switched and a known working 3" drive attached to my Greaseweazle and a modern Win10 PC.

I'm using GreaseweazleGUI v2.115 and the 'Read From Disk' option.

When I read from a real disk it steps the stepper, seems to make all the right noises and do the right things but the resultant file is always blank with the default .scp option.

The option screen looks like this:

I changed the cylinders to 0-39 and head to 0 (I assume that corresponds to the actual head on the drive, as they only have 1).

For Disk type and Format there are loads of options but none seem to relate to Spectrum/Amstrad disks.

Perhaps someone has a pointer or 2.

Thanks.

Fixed it. My adapter ribbon cable was incorrect for the Greaseweazle.
