How do I get software onto the ZX80/ZX81 from the PC

Most emulators expect files to be in one of two formats for the Sinclair ZX80 / ZX81

Sinclair ZX80
- Either a .o format file or a .80 file (both are the same, just different file extensions)

Sinclair ZX81
- Either a .p format file or a .81 file (both are the same, just different file extensions)

These files can be converted to a .wav file on the PC and then played through the PC's sound card, which you can connect to your ZX80/ZX81 as though it were a tape recorder.

The program to convert the files to a .wav file is called simply:
zxp2wav.zip

Of course, there is now also the option of using ZXpand which plugs into the ZX81's expansion port, and offers the ability to read/write directly from/to .p files on an SD memory card.

The ZXpand also includes a host of other features - see www.rwapsoftware.co.uk/zx812.html for details (including the manual).

Is there anything like this zx_p2wav_v0_04.zip for a Mac?

For a MAC - maybe try
The PlayTZX for MAC -
ftp://ftp.worldofspectrum.org/pub/sincl ... 12b.tar.gz

There are several Windows versions, at least one of which will also play .p files, but not sure on the MAC version.

You could also try the Java based ZX81 Tape Convertor:

The ZIP file is corrupt and won't open on Windows.

Many thanks,

Shaun.
