Demo for Memotech HRG graphics

Post by David G »

Memopak HRG by Memotech

I couldn't find a demo program for the Memopak HRG, or any other program with source code. So checking out the user instructions, it doesn't take long to figure out. This demo detects if the HRG hardware is present, and if so, draws an arc. If not present, it draws a low-res version. The built-in plot routine seems reasonably fast

Not having an HRG, I tested the demo with these two emulators:

VB81 XuR
* On the Options menu, click "Hardware Settings"
* Click the Display module (image of second pack behind the ZX81)
* Click "Memotech HRG"/Update Now/Close

EightyOne v1.40 (2024 version). The only option needed is
* On the Options menu, click Hardware
* In the "High Resolution" listbox, click Memotech

I disagree about the plot speed. I have one and it has to be the slowest thing ever especially when called from BASIC.
Try running the other examples from the manual and see what I mean.

Under the Help menu of EightyOne you'll find subfolders "Documentation" and "Example ZX81 Programs". Under here you'll find the manual for the Memotech HRG and the 3 example programs from the manual. You'll also find manuals and example programs here for the other interfaces EightyOne emulates.
